Letting go!

Letting go is nothing more than accepting that you cannot do anything else; you have done your best and can do no more. You surrender (not giving up in a weakened sense) but a powerful and wise surrender to something outside of yourself. That is letting go. But it is only when you have got to this very point that you will know what ‘letting go’ truly is. It is not something you can d…o without knowing why! It’s like baking a cake as a novice, you do your best but it keeps turning out wrong. You have bought the utensils and ingredients, diligently followed instructions; yet is still rubbish. How many times you try and fail; angry at others success. You say to yourself “what is happening here, I am doing what I am supposed to do and still no good”. On and on you go trying to prove to yourself and others that you can cook; each time failing. Bashing your head against a brick wall you continue on with your stubborn need for…whatever… who knows? And then one day you get it…you realise with your whole being what you had not previously wanted to acknowledge; YOU JUST CAN’T COOK! That right there is the point of surrender, that is the point where you STOP ‘trying’ and you let go…you find either someone else to do it for you or you go and get it from the supermarket. You have found acceptance and at the same time, you have also found peace.

Excerpt from Beyond the Shift book by Jacqueline Cullen

No one is going to come in with a magic wand and make your emotional distress go away or your addictions, money worries, relationship difficulties or even illnesses. They have their own rubbish to deal with. Until we start taking full responsibility for our actions, thoughts, beliefs, attitude and relations with others, we are stuck in a self-imposed prison. It doesn’t matter what your story; you can change it. Let go of the victim mentality, let go of the blame, let go of the need for attention. Accept that which has gone before you cannot go back and change it, look at what you can do and start anew.
